I love God’s scriptures and how they give us hope for today… and tomorrow … and how they help us with our daily journey.
The Bible offers us so many inspirational messages, instructions for daily life, examples of God’s love for us and promises! One of my favorites is Jeremiah 29:11:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11; NIV)
Just for a quick reference, the dictionary states the word “prosper” means to be successful or fortunate, to thrive, to flourish. The word “hope” means to believe, desire, trust.
I love this scripture as it provides such powerful, life-changing words from our Lord.
But, I urge you, please do not stop reading there…. Read further:
“Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me with all your heart. And I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes….” (Jeremiah 29: 12 – 14; NAS)
We are urged to pray and seek the Lord; that is what God commands us to do. (I need this reminder often!) Then He will “restore our fortunes.” I love Jeremiah 29:11, but God has put it in my heart to keep these other verses (versus 12 – 14) in my heart, too, as well to realize the whole picture of God’s wishes for us.
God’s Word is truly wonderful!
P.S. Special thanks to my daughter, Christine, for her beautiful flower pictures while living in Costa Rica!
