Life Is A Beach

Sometimes I have to remind myself, I’m doing too much of …. work, work, work!  And I feel like this…

Sleeping. Who Gave Her Decaf?!?

And not enough of this ….

And after the winter most of us have had… (Okay …I live in “Sunny Florida” – but don’t laugh!  Even we, in Northeast Florida, had weeks of “dreary, gloomy, cold days!) Now spring is here, and summer is just around the corner (my favorite seasons).    But I often have to remind myself to just take a break and sit and enjoy the beautiful weather.

I am blessed to be by the ocean, but I don’t get to the beach nearly enough.  I didn’t get to the beach all winter and just last week went to the ocean for a few hours.  As you can see, it was amazing…

If you don’t live on a coast, maybe you could take a walk through the woods… and stroll along a lakeshore, river, brook or stream.  I love that too!  There is just something about being close to water that refreshes my soul.

Or even just taking a walk through a peaceful forest.

Smell the fresh air, take a walk, recharge, capture the simple little things in life … these moments help us survive the “day in, day out drudgery” of our lives.  Get a change of scenery – it will probably do you a world of good!

And you can always….. swim in a pool.  Sometimes I just “float” in a “floatie” all Sunday afternoon.  (Of course, don’t forget your sunscreen!)

Take a break from chasing your kids, cleaning the house, working overtime, and doing chores!  Sure, these things need to be done, but all that stuff will be there when you get back.  Make sure you take care of you too! Stop and smell the fresh salty air!  You will be glad you did!  See you at the beach!

  • yes!! I need some down time. This weed has been stressful with Stanford Achievement Testing for my daughter. The beach looks so inviting!

    • Clare says:

Yes, Starla, we all need some down time – but goodness – hope the testing went well – the beach is ALWAYS inviting – enjoy it every time I go up there – even just to sit for 15 minutes!

  • beautiful scenery – good idea 😀

  • When I get overwhelmed I pack my kids up and go for a hike in our local forest, which is beautiful. So yes get outside and get refreshed!

    • Clare says:

Wow I love the idea of the forest – that sounds wonderful and great exercise!  I haven’t done that myself in a while – but I love love to get outside even just for 15 minutes and just sit and rest! Thanks!

  • Gorgeous pictures. I love, love, love the beach!! We usually vacation in the Orange Beach area, but we live so far from it now….Lake Michigan is lovely but it is NOT the ocean 😉

    • Clare says:

I’m SO jealous!  We live in Pittsburgh where we get about 70 sunny days a year in a GOOD year.  I’m trying to take advantage of them, we’ve had a few this week, but it’s kind of chilly – under 60 degrees 🙁

    • Clare says:

Wow – Sherri – I was born and raised in New Jersey – and I “get it” – however, I don’t miss that!  I hope it gets warmer and sunnier!  Thanks for stopping in and thanks for sharing!  🙂

  • I have a beach about 30 minutes from me, but it’s the “too cold to swim” kind since I’m in the Pacific Northwest. But I was there last weekend and it was still amazing. I took photos of wild seals, held a tiny crab, and found some great driftwood.

    • Clare says:

So glad you had some beach time Stephanie… wow glad you enjoyed the “wildlife” too!  It’s just so refreshing!  🙂

  • Gina B says:

I can totally relate! I decided to eat lunch in the yard, which I’m usually too lazy to do, because when I have work, I just spend the who workday at my desk. It was the wise choice, I totally feel recharged after my 15 minutes of sun!

    • Clare says:

Great Gina – so glad you got some sun and rest… there’s just something about getting a little bit of fresh air!  Thanks for the comments and stopping by!  🙂

  • Mary Collins says:

A walk in a serene wooded area appeals to me. Nothing like taking a break.

    • Clare says:

Yes, Mary, I sure agree.  I love to get in the woods and take a walk (provided there are no snakes around)  🙂  🙂  But love to catch a breath of fresh air anywhere!  Thanks for sharing!

  • “Floating in a floatie all afternoon …” is about as close to Heaven on Earth as one will get, eh?  😎

    • Clare says:

So true Dennis!  Just about every Sunday afternoon in the late spring and summer, I get over to my sister’s house and “float” in my “floatie”!!!!!! Thanks for stopping in!  🙂

  • Farrah says:

I used to live about an hour-ish away from the coast, and now that I’m landlocked, I definitely feel like I didn’t take advantage of that enough! (I guess it didn’t help that I couldn’t drive at the time, but…in theory!)

Being outside is definitely a great way to de-stress and unwind! <3

    • Clare says:

Yes, I love being outside to de-stress and unwind, too, Farrah, even if it’s just sitting outside getting some fresh air for 15 minutes!  Glad you stopped by!!!!  🙂

  • Tammy Doiel says:

God’s nature is so refreshing. When we take time to slow down and enjoy Him in what He has made, our day is so much better.  Thanks for the reminder.

    • Clare says:

You really hit it – “God’s nature is so refreshing.”  So so true!  I need these reminders, too!  Thanks, Tammy!  🙂
