Spring Is In The Air!

, / 49

Well, many of us all over the country have been pulling our hair out waiting for winter to be over and Spring to get here!  I think at this point most of us will be welcoming Spring with open arms!!!!!!

Happiness with open arms

I live in “Sunny” Florida (Northeast Florida), and believe it or not – for us anyway – we’ve had a tough winter, too.  Those living in the Northeast and Midwest, you can stop laughing now!!!!   Maybe we haven’t necessarily had this….

Cars covered in snow on a parking lot in the residential area

…but we’ve had lots and lots of cold, gloomy drizzly weather.  And it’s been depressing!

Fighting against the wind

But …. Countdown!!!!!!  Spring will be here in 15 days on Friday, March 20th!  There is hope!  Soon, we will hopefully have warmer, sunnier weather!

I’ll be the first to tell you, I take for granted that I live so close to the ocean and don’t nearly enjoy it like I should. And I am so looking forward to walking the beach, enjoying the fresh ocean breeze and digging my toes into the sand!  I actually can’t wait!  I don’t know about you – but this long, grueling winter has given me much of the “Winter Blues” and the winter doldrums. (See my earlier blog on the “Winter Blues”.)

Even if you don’t live close to the ocean, I know you are probably “done” with the winter, and you’re telling yourself “enough already, enough already!”  I bet you are looking forward to some fresh air, sunshine, flowers and gardens!

I am looking forward to being outdoors, getting some Vitamin D in the sun and taking weekend mini-breaks.  When it finally stops raining and gets just a tad warmer, I am even looking forward to evenings sitting out front just resting and gazing at the beautiful sunsets, the peaceful moon and stars.

Research has shown there is a strong link between sunshine and our moods.  Sunlight is credited with boosting positive moods, erasing negative moods and improving energy.  And similarly, experts have found pleasant weather improves mood, memory and creativity!

Well, you know what I say to that?? I say, “Come on Spring …. Come on sunshine!  Come on warmer weather!  We welcome you with open arms!!!!!”   Wherever you live, after this long winter, I bet you too are looking forward to some R&R outside in the fresh, warmer air!  I know I am.

With the coming of spring, I am calm again.”  Gustav Mahler

Maybe we’ll run into each other walking through the park, on a trail in the woods, or strolling on the beach.

I forgot to mention, I think Spring better get here quickly.  I am running out of matching socks!

Until then,

Your sunny friend –

YAY! I can’t WAIT for Spring!  I’m in PIttsburgh and our school just was cancelled AGAIN due to snow. UGH.  Thanks for sharing the LOVELY pictures!

    • Clare says:

Goodness Sherri – yes unfortunately I remember so well – I was born and raised in New Jersey – loved the snow as a kid – but don’t miss it now!  Thanks for stopping in!!!!!  Blessings!  🙂  🙂

  • Today is the 3rd day this week, and not consecutively, that we’ve been out of school due to snow. Winter is hitting the BEYOND frustrating limit for the 2nd year in a row. However, last year the snow days didn’t effect my softball practices like they are this year. We MUST get in 14 practices before our first game. We only had 14 school days prior to our first game. :-/ Yesterday the decision was made for no practices. I’m waiting to hear today’s decision.

My husband and I dream of living by the ocean. Every year we say we’re heading west for vacation, but every year we head to the Gulf or East Coast. We can’t NOT sit on the beach for at least one week every year.

    • Clare says:

Awwww – Carrie – I feel your pain – born and raised in New Jersey – and used to love the snow as a kid…. I don’t miss it now though!  I live close to the beach in Florida but it truly has been cold this winter and with busy lives – you know how it is  – I don’t get out there to the beach nearly as much as any of us should…. just getting out and getting a little bit of fresh air – even if it’s sitting outside at night in the spring – keeps me sane!  Thanks for your thoughts – blessings!

  • I suffer from seasonal depression so I am more than excited about approaching Spring weather!! Moving to South Carolina to the coast from up North was the best move we ever made! I do not miss that weather and the terrible depression I had along with my achy joints. Warmer weather is much better for all of us.

    • Clare says:

Goodness Brandi – I can so relate!  I have gotten the “Winter Blues” but never even knew/ or realized I had it truly until a few years ago!  Warmer weather is great!  Thanks for your thoughts and appreciate your comments!  🙂  🙂

Love the post and the socks! I live in the Northern part of the country (MN) and you’re right – we’re DONE with winter, but it’s likely winter isn’t done with us. Looking forward to spring with you.

Thanks Joy!!!!!  Goodness – you have had a rough winter then – I know we are all looking forward to the Spring!  Thanks for the kind words and thanks for stopping in!

  • I swear that there is a sock monster in my dryer!!  I have a basket full of single socks…why do I keep them?  I guess that I’m hoping that one day the other sock will be found LOL.

As for the weather, it’s been rainy here in North Carolina.  Our schools have had many two hour delays due to ice on the roads but we have not seen much snow in our area.  I, like you and others am ready for sun, tan legs, cute dresses and flip flops!!

    • Clare says:

Love your thoughts Jennifer and definitely concur!!!!!! 🙂  🙂  Ha ha – love the “sock monster”!!!!!! We will all be looking forward to spring – thanks for sharing!

Hi Clare! I am warming my feet with the little heater under my desk as I read your post, so I am pretty sure that tells you I am ready for some sun as well! I am not as fortunate to have a beach near by, but I am looking forward to some walks in the park! Stay warm!

  • This has actually been a bit of an easier winter than last year in our part of the country (and I grew up in Tennessee, so saying an Illinois winter is “easy” means something LOL), but I’m still ready to see it behind me! I can’t wait to break out my flip flops and hit the pool 🙂

    • Clare says:

Yes Leanne – We are all looking forward to flip flops (I know I am) and pool time and outdoor time – and away from this “dreary” weather!  Thanks for stopping by – I appreciate it!  🙂

  • Thea says:

Man, I so totally hear you on this one!! I live in upstate NY. We had the coldest February on record. I am an active person and love running. Even though I normally tough it out, most of Feb was in the single digits with lots of snow, too cold for running! This Mama is definitely looking forward to some sun and honestly, even 30 degrees sounds good at this point! Hahah! Cheers to Spring!
