Well, many of us all over the country have been pulling our hair out waiting for winter to be over and Spring to get here! I think at this point most of us will be welcoming Spring with open arms!!!!!!
I live in “Sunny” Florida (Northeast Florida), and believe it or not – for us anyway – we’ve had a tough winter, too. Those living in the Northeast and Midwest, you can stop laughing now!!!! Maybe we haven’t necessarily had this….
…but we’ve had lots and lots of cold, gloomy drizzly weather. And it’s been depressing!
But …. Countdown!!!!!! Spring will be here in 15 days on Friday, March 20th! There is hope! Soon, we will hopefully have warmer, sunnier weather!
I’ll be the first to tell you, I take for granted that I live so close to the ocean and don’t nearly enjoy it like I should. And I am so looking forward to walking the beach, enjoying the fresh ocean breeze and digging my toes into the sand! I actually can’t wait! I don’t know about you – but this long, grueling winter has given me much of the “Winter Blues” and the winter doldrums. (See my earlier blog on the “Winter Blues”.)
Even if you don’t live close to the ocean, I know you are probably “done” with the winter, and you’re telling yourself “enough already, enough already!” I bet you are looking forward to some fresh air, sunshine, flowers and gardens!
I am looking forward to being outdoors, getting some Vitamin D in the sun and taking weekend mini-breaks. When it finally stops raining and gets just a tad warmer, I am even looking forward to evenings sitting out front just resting and gazing at the beautiful sunsets, the peaceful moon and stars.
Research has shown there is a strong link between sunshine and our moods. Sunlight is credited with boosting positive moods, erasing negative moods and improving energy. And similarly, experts have found pleasant weather improves mood, memory and creativity!
Well, you know what I say to that?? I say, “Come on Spring …. Come on sunshine! Come on warmer weather! We welcome you with open arms!!!!!” Wherever you live, after this long winter, I bet you too are looking forward to some R&R outside in the fresh, warmer air! I know I am.
“With the coming of spring, I am calm again.” Gustav Mahler
Maybe we’ll run into each other walking through the park, on a trail in the woods, or strolling on the beach.
I forgot to mention, I think Spring better get here quickly. I am running out of matching socks!
Your sunny friend –
